The short answerUpdated Oct 20, 2026

Indiana sports run on four levels at once. The Colts, Pacers, and Fever carry the pro side out of Indianapolis. The colleges supply the rivalries: Indiana in Bloomington, Purdue in West Lafayette, Notre Dame in South Bend, plus Butler and Ball State. Motorsports takes a month of its own every May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And Indiana high school football and IHSAA basketball still fill bleachers and gyms on a Friday night.

Indiana sports questions people actually ask

Written to answer the thing you actually searched for, not to pad the page.

03

How does the IHSAA state tournament work?

Most IHSAA team sports run the same ladder: sectional, then regional, then semi-state, then the state finals. Sectional week is the round fans travel for, and the finals move between host venues. IHSAA volleyball moved its finals to Gainbridge Fieldhouse in 2025.

05

Is there a Get Indiana sports podcast?

Yes. Get IN. Sports is hosted by Dom Miranda and covers high school, college and pro sports across Indiana, mostly through interviews with the reporters, coaches and broadcasters on those beats. It publishes on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube.

08

How often is this sports coverage updated?

New stories publish as games, signings and results land, which is most days in football and basketball season. The shelves above re-sort as coverage arrives, so the pro, college, high school and motorsports rows each stay current without this page being rewritten.
